At the Flat Six Speed Shop we are working on a few projects.

Cinderella: 1970 914-6

I bought this car back in 2015 after realizing at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance that if I didn’t buy a 914-6 soon, I would never be able to find one, much less afford it. A month later I owned Cinderella, a completely rusted out, but original 914-6. Without an engine. Two months later the original engine for the car found me. Thanks to 914world, where I posted the original engine’s serial number, the person with the engine, in Miami contacted me. And the restoration began. Read about it here.

1967 912

I bought this car in March 2020 just as the pandemic set in. The car needed a lot more rust work than anticipated. It is currently in Virginia having the rust work done. A very long-term project. Read about it here.

Roxanne: 1972 914

Purchased in November 2014, this 914 was featured as the project car in a number of Fourteener Motoring Magazine issues. needed a quick and easy paint job and rebuild. The car then became a project to run the One Lap of America. With a complete paint, new engine rebuild, and lots of work 6 years passed quickly. I sold the car last fall and the new owner has gotten it back on the road and carving corners again. Read about it here.

Caroline: 981 Cayman

A daily-driven, point A to point B, go everywhere, in a hurry, car. No drama. No problem. Read about it here.

Charlie: A 1969 912

This is my baby. And he comes with a great story. I went looking for a 912 to keep forever in the fall of 2019. I bought a ’65 that turned out to be much more rusty than I anticipated. I sold it to a good home. I then purchased the ’67 912 above in March 2020. Although it was in much better shape than the ’65, it too turned into a long-term project. Then in November 2020 a 1969 912 came my way. In my favorite color, tangerine. I bought the car which was complete, running, and just needed a little rust work and a paint job, and a little reassembly. I was in love.

For two weeks. Then the previous owner’s son called me. he explained that his dad had owned the car, but, had passed away a few years ago. His step mom had hid the car from him and sold it to me. When he asked to buy the car back, I couldn’t refuse. His dad’s car went home to his garage. And I went looking for another car.

Along came Charlie, a 1969 912 in tangerine. 86,000 original miles, from California, and complete. I bought him sight unseen, and haven’t looked back. Read about Charlie here.
